This five-day course is intended for professional developers who use Microsoft SharePoint 2010 in a team-based, medium-sized to large development environment. Members of the audience are experienced users of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SP1. The audience understands how to use the new features of SharePoint 2010 and Visual Studio 2010.

After completing this course, students will be able to describe the SharePoint development platform and the benefits and features that it offers to developers, use development tools that are integrated with the platform, such as Visual Studio and SharePoint Designer, develop Web Parts for SharePoint solutions, develop code that uses the server-side objects provided by the development platform, develop event receivers and manipulate application settings, develop solutions that access external data by using Business Connectivity Services, develop workflows, develop code that uses the client-side objects provided by the development platform, develop server ribbon controls and client dialogs for the new user interface platform, develop Microsoft Silverlight applications that are integrated with SharePoint, develop sandboxed solutions, develop code that uses the taxonomic and user profile services of the development platform, and develop code that uses the content management services.

Configuration

This five-day course is intended for IT professionals who are experienced Windows Server 2003 or 2008 administrators and are interested in learning how to administer SharePoint or SharePoint Online. The course is also intended for part-time Business Application Administrators (BAAs) who are engaged in administering Line of Business (LOB) applications in conjunction with internal business customers.

After completing this course, students will be able to install SharePoint, create a SharePoint intranet, administer and automate with PowerShell, configure content management, configure authentication, secure content, manage customization, configure and secure SharePoint services and service applications, manage user profiles and social networking, administer and configure search, implement productivity service applications, upgrade, implement business continuity, and monitor and optimize SharePoint.
