Course description
Teaches students how to effectively utilize HP Operations Manager for
Windows®, version 8.0, in their networked environment. It covers key integration, configuration
and maintenance tasks. This lecture and lab course provides extensive hands-on experience with
the user interface and configuration of HP Operations Manager for Windows.
Prerequisites
Experience with Windows 2000/2003 Administration & Security essential
MCSE desirable
Knowledge of TCP/IP and COM/DCOM desirable
Knowledge of VBScripting an advantage
Course Objective
Upon completion of this course you will be able to do the following:
Understand how HP Operations Manager for Windows is used to manage systems and the
architecture of the Management Server
Locate, organize, configure and manage nodes
Understand the role of WMI in policies and the product architecture
Understand the different policy types and how best to use each one
Create, deploy and maintain policies and instrumentation
Use message reduction techniques to identify duplicates or message storm conditions.
Describe how the Embedded Performance Component provides performance data
Integrate and use HP Performance Manager and HP Reporter with HPOMW
Create and use service hierarchies in HP Software Operations for Windows
Use and create tools to extend the operators' capabilities

Understand security and troubleshooting issues
